Yes, it is possible to serve on the campus where you went to school. Serving on a different campus is also an option. All applicants are encouraged to be open to a new location and a new opportunity. There is a great value in serving on a campus where you did not go to school—it is a learning opportunity for you and for the students on that campus. At the same time, there is often value to a BCM to have campus missionaries who are graduates of their ministry. You will be able to indicate your preference on the application and all possibilities will be taken into consideration during the appointment process. Appointments will be made following Campus Missionary Discovery Day in January and must be accepted or declined by February 7.

Yes, there will be a required in-person orientation for all campus missionaries the first week of August.

There are 2 levels of ongoing training for campus missionaries. Most training will come locally from the campus minister with whom you serve. There is also a state-wide training program all campus missionaries will participate in that includes readings, on-line cohort discussions, and a possible in person gathering in January.

No. Applying to be a campus missionary is very much like applying for a job. Only well qualified applicants who are also recommended by their campus or church minister will be invited to Discovery Day. Of those invited to Discovery Day, only those applicants who are determined to be the best fit for the current open positions will be offered an appointment.
